Jewish, I am not, (and I don't plan to become Jewish) but I am a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ and have been for over 45 years. However, I can't shake off the idea of learning more about Jewish Holy Days and practices. In fact, like dark chocolate, it has become a borderline obsession.
Our generous close friend Grace (name changed to protect her identity) shares tiny glimpses into Jewish practices regularly. She opens our eyes to candle-lit Shabbat meals; tasty Purim Hamentaschen treats; and, both she and the library provide generous stacks of loaned books with all things Judaism. In other words, so far, I know enough about Judaism to be potentially dangerous.
The titles theologian and scholar are in no way my identity. Tiptoeing into Shabbat the last 2 Saturdays, and sensing Jewish Passover in the air, I dive into this new blog topic to write what I learn. I want to document in a down-to-earth, understandable way my gleanings. Nothing deep or detailed.I am an ordinary person with an insatiable curiosity to know more about the Jewish practices that Jesus observed when He walked this earth over 2,000 years ago.
